If you have a valid passport, you can reside in Dubai for 90 days without applying for a resident visa or Emirates ID.
In this case, you will not be considered a resident of the United Arab Emirates.
Important Things About Residency in Dubai
If you decide to obtain your residence through a Freezone company, once it is approved, you can receive a resident and work visa valid for 3 years. This visa is renewable indefinitely and is valid in all of the United Arab Emirates.
To start the process, you'll need to create a company in Dubai. There are three types of legal structures you can choose from:
- Mainland
-Offshore
Once the appropriate legal structure has been selected, you can open your company in Dubai. For more information, check out our blog:Open company in Dubai
Upon arrival in the Emirates, you will need to undergo medical tests to confirm that you are not suffering from any contagious disease. These tests are also necessary every time you renew your residence.
After completing the above steps, you will receive your residence visa and Emirates ID, the latter you will need for various administrative procedures.
Once you have obtained them, you can live in Dubai permanently.
With your visa and Emirates ID in hand, you can now open a bank account and carry out the necessary legal procedures.
To keep your visa active, you must be in the Emirates at least once every 183 days. In other words, just by spending two days a year in Dubai you could keep your residence. However, if you spend more than 183 days in another country, you could lose your tax resident status in the Emirates.
If you stay outside Dubai for more than 6 months, your visa will be automatically canceled and you will need to apply for a new one.
If you obtain your residence through a Freezone company, you don't need to justify renting a house, since the visa is linked to your company.
If you decide to leave the country permanently, you must officially cancel your residence visa. This procedure can be carried out in two ways:
- At an accredited typing center, available in all Emirates.
- Online through the ICP website or app.
Not all nationalities can obtain residency automatically. For example, countries such as Egypt or Iran require special authorization. However, citizens of the European Union, Australia, the United States, Latin America, and others are accepted without restrictions.
